PURPOSES OF THE COMPETITION
To identify, support and promote talented young pianists; to maintain and develop the best Russian and international music art achievements; to raise the role of the music art in the society and among young people; to develop international cultural relations.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPETITION
To keep the traditions of the Russian piano school;
to raise the level of the professional and performing skills;
to promote and encourage young talents.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION 
The Competition is open to all pianists from 8 to 22 years old. The Competition is held in three age categories:
- Junior category: from 8 to 12 years old inclusive
- Middle category: from 13 to 16 years old inclusive
- Senior category: from 17 to 22 years old inclusive
If during the Competition the participants turn 12 or 16 years old they can take part in the next age category.
The age of the participant is determined by April 1, 2025.
(April 1 is the birthday of Vladimir Krainev).
Laureates of the past competitions, special awards winners can take part in the Preliminary Auditions, skipping the Qualifying round.
The applications are accepted as of September 1, 2024. The application submission deadline is 11 p.m. November 30, 2024. 
To participate in the Competition it is necessary to fill in the application form from the web-site krainev.moscow, including the video link for the Qualifying round.
Please make sure that your video link can be downloaded on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Please note that there is no any participation fee or other payments for the participants of the Competition.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

Qualifying round is held by video recordings.

The video for the Qualifying round must be recorded not earlier than January 2024.
The entire program must be recorded without turning off the camera (no editing). The Audition Commission will examine all submitted applications and videos. After the Qualifying round no more than 200 people will be admitted to participate in the Preliminary Auditions.
As of  December 15 2024 till January 3, 2025 the Audition Commission will examine all submitted applications. The Qualifying round results will be published on the Competition web-site not later than January 5, 2025. 

Preliminary Auditions is held by video recordings.

The participants of the Small, Middle and Senior categories that passed the Qualifying round must record 20-25 minutes program for the Preliminary Auditions and send the application together with the video link before January 17, 2025.
The entire program must be recorded from the beginning till the end without turning off the camera (without editing). The recording must be done in the period between January 6 and  January 17, 2025. To confirm the date of the recording, you must show in front of the camera any printed publication (newspaper, magazine, etc.) or an electronic device (mobile phone, tablet, etc.), with the publication or a current date.

As of January 20 till January 31, 2025 the Audition Commission will examine all submitted videos. Following the results of the Preliminary Auditions the Commission will select 24 participants (8 in each age group) who will be admitted to the Competition Auditions.
The Preliminary Auditions results will be published on the Competition official web-site not later than February 1, 2025.  

The Competition Auditions consist of the Recital (semi-final) and the performances with an orchestra (final) and will take place at the Moscow International Performing Arts Center from March 23 to 31, 2025. Competition Auditions will be open to the public. Foreign participants must have translated into Russian language theirs passports. Twenty-four (24) participants admitted to the semi-final will perform a recital, after which three (3) participants in each category will be admitted to the final.
If during the voting several contestants receive an equal number of points, the Jury has the right to admit a fourth finalist.
The International Jury will evaluate the Competition Auditions.

The order of the performances in the Competition Auditions will be determined by a draw and remains unaltered throughout the Competition Auditions. The Competition opening concert will take place March 23, 2025, the draw March 24, 2025 in the presence of the contestants at the Moscow International Performing Arts Center.
Recital Auditions will take place live from March 25 till 27, 2025 at the Alfred Schnittke Hall of the MIPAC, one day for each category. Following the Recital round results three pianists in each category will be admitted to the Final round.
The results of admitted countestants to the finals are announced at the end of each age category day audition.
Competitive final auditions will take place live from March 30 till 31, 2025 at the Svetlanov Hall of the MIPAC.
At the end of the Competition final Auditions March 31, 2025 3 winners in each age category will be announced.    

All music pieces must be performed by heart throughout all the Competition.

The prize winners will perform in Gala Concert April 1 with a symphonic orchestra.

Competition Jury

The Competition Jury has the right to:

    • distribute prizes and Grand Prix among the contestants;
    • award special and incentive prizes and diplomas.

The Jury's decision is final and is not subject to revision. The decision of the Jury members at the stage of Competitive Auditions with the points assigned to each participant of the Competition is drawn up in accordance with the evaluation questionnaires developed and approved by the Organizing Committee, in accordance with the Regulations of the Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition, approved by Order No. 172 dated August 25, 2022.
If a member of the Competition Jury is a relative or teacher of a Competition participant, then he has no right to vote during the audition of this participant.

The Voting

Competition auditions.
Recital round:
The Jury members evaluate each participant on a 12-point scale. The Jury's scores are summed up and the 3 contestants with the highest total scores advance to the finals.
In case of a tie for several contestants, the decision remains with the Chairman of the Jury, who may admit a 4th finalist. After the scores have been counted and the contestants who have advanced to the finals have been determined, each of them is awarded determining points that will be taken into account in the finals: the contestant who has scored the highest number of points in the solo round is awarded 3 points; the contestant in second place - 2 points and the contestant in 3rd place - 1 point. If the 2 best contestants have scored the same number of points, they are awarded 3 points each and 2 points are awarded to the third contestant. If the second and third contestants have scored the same number of points, they are awarded 2 points each and 3 points to the first contestant. If the top 3 contestants in the solo round have the same number of points, then each is awarded 3 points. If 4 contestants are admitted to the final, 4 points are awarded in the solo round according to the same system.

Final with the orchestra:
Each Jury member gives 3 points to the contestant who, in his opinion, should become the winner; 2 points to the contestant in second place and 1 point to the contestant in third place. If 4 contestants are admitted to the final, 4 points are awarded in the recital round according to the same system. After calculating the number of points scored by each contestant, they are added up with the determining points scored by the contestants in the solo round. The contestant who scored the highest number of points in total becomes the winner. If the two best contestants score the same number of points, the decision to award or divide the main prize is made by a majority vote during a vote by all members of the Jury.
If a member of the Competition Jury is a relative or a teacher of the finalist, he/she does not take part in the voting for all finalists.

The application form includes the following information:

- Name, surname;
- date of birth;
- category;
- complete name of the music institution;
- teacher’s name;
- short music biography of the participant (if any);
- program;
- link for the video
- address, tel.number
- e-mail address

Important: send one link of your video recording with the entire program. Make sure that your program meets the required timing for your category.

All text materials will be accepted in Russian or English.
Video recordings sent without the necessary information will not be accepted for consideration.

The Organizing Committee may request additional information from participants.
The winners take part in the Gala Concert free of charge.

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

For 24 participants admitted to the Competition audition the following expenses will be covered:
- flight of train travel (economy, both ways)
- local ground transportation (from and to the airport of railway station)
- accommodation
- meal at the premises of the MIPAC
For the participants of the junior and middle category the above conditions are valid for 1 accompanying person.
The responsibility of getting the Russian entry visa and its cost is subject of the responsibility of the participants. The Organizing Committee will provide foreign participants and their companion with the invitation from the Competition.
