VI Moscow International Vladimir Krainev Piano Competition

The VI Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition is happy to announce the start of accepting applications for participation in the VI Competition which will be held in March 2025.
Nine years have passed since the first competition which took place back in 2015. Three competitions were held in traditional live format and two online. All competitions have shown how popular and beloved is the art of piano playing, and what excellent young performers and creative forces are hidden in the most remote corners of Russia and the CIS countries.
The main goal of our competition has always been to identify and support of talented musicians. During the five competitions, the general public has become familiar with the names of remarkable young pianists who now regularly perform on leading Russian and world stages, strengthening the prestige of the Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition: Daniil Kharitonov, Alexandra Dovgan, Shio Okui, Alexander Malofeev, Valentin Malinin, Timofey Vladimirov, Eva Garet, Shao Ziyu, Elisey Mysin, Kirill Rogovoy and and many others.
Among the numerous young performers’ contests the Krainev competition occupies a special place: it is distinguished by a unique atmosphere of openness and friendliness, and at the same time high requirements for participants.
The Artistic Director of the competition, Alexander Romanovsky, notes that “... building bridges and connections that can subsequently have a significant impact on the lives of our participants have always been considered the most important task of the competition.”
The VI competition will be held as follows: the first two rounds – the qualifying round and preliminary auditions – will be based on video recordings; the main competitive auditions, which will consist of solo performances in the semi-finals and performances with an orchestra in the finals, will be held in the halls of the Moscow International House of Music and will be open to the public.
Traditionally, the Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition will bring together young musicians aged 8 to 22 and will end with a gala concert of the winners on the stage of the Svetlanov Hall. The winners of the VI competition will perform in the halls of the Moscow International House of Music in the 2025/2026 concert season.
