Biography
Born in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in the Russian Far East, Daniel Kharitonov was remembered by the public as one of the brightest talents of the 15th Tchaikovsky International Competition when, in 2015 at the age of 16, he won Third prize.
Daniel is a laureate of multiple international competitions, his other achievements includes 1st prize (Golden Nutcracker) at the International Television Contest for the Young Musicians “Nutcracker” (2010) and Grand-Prix at the Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition (2015).
Highlights from previous seasons include his debut with RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Michail Jurovsky as well as Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire under Antoni Wit. He also had a successful recital debut at Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris.
In Russia, he debuted with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra and Vladimir Fedoseyev. Daniel Kharitonov also had recital debut at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, the Kyoto Concert Hall and Yokohama Minato Mirai. Among his foreign tour is South Africa, performance with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer, London Chamber Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy, Ural Philharmonic Orchestra and Dmitry Liss, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia under Vladimir Spivakov and others.
Since successful debut with The Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev in 2013, Kharitonov became a regular with this Orchestra, having already toured with them to China, Italy and performed across Russia on the Moscow Easter Festival tours. Daniel have successfully performed in a more than 50 countries around the world.
In 2023, he held a succesful joint tour with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic under the direction of Nikolai Alekseev through the cities of China (Beijing, Tianjin, Wuhan, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Changsha, Shanghai).
Daniel Kharitonov was a member of jury in XXV International Television Contest for Young Musicians “Nutcracker” (2024). It is symbolic that now the winner of the first Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition will become a member of its jury.
